I can't decide on the angle of the satin black finish from the front bumper edge down to the wheelarch area.
The first picture is from a 1979 road test and the angle of the satin black goes from the end of the bumper down to the top of the spoiler edge.
On the second picture from the official brochure the satin black from the bumper edge has a slight downward angle.
On my car the angle wasn't as steep as the first picture but steeper than the second picture. It was at an angle which would line up with the satin black on the trailing edge of the front wing. Of the three options I prefer mine as this way it lines up better I feel. Help!! Decisions, decisions.

This is our 40,000 mile mainly original Equipe. As far as I remember, no paintwork has ever been done on the N/S wing, but I couldn't get in the garage to check it tonight, cos it is rather buried in there 
Another good Equipe reference would be Paul Hemingway's restoration project, as displayed (on a trailer) at the 2008 ACI National. No repair work has ever been done to that shell, and it shows!  |

That looks very nice indeed Paul. The angle of the satin black on yours is the same as the 1979 road test picture. Looking at yours that's the angle I'm going to go for now. Decision made, you've convinced me.  Is Paul Hemingway's really that bad? Can't believe there is one worse than mine was. Mind you, Colin T's scrapped Equipe shell was really bad.

I'll get mine done with the straight line as per the brochure. I don't like the extra triangle of silver on the motor test car, it makes the line of the black point down and not line up with anything, whereas the straight line lines up nicely with the bumper, and looks better to me.

It wasn't that bad really - I found a small amount of steel attached to that big pile of rust

Structurally, Paul H's is in amazing condition, but the top is very bad because it never appears to have had any remedial paint repairs carried out and it lived outside for many years with the previous owners |

You are right Colin, I've had second thoughts and decided to do mine straight also. Incidentally after double checking the satin black on my Equipe, it was going down to the top of the spoiler edge and not slightly going downwards as I originally thought it was. I wonder why there were variations?
