Hi
I have just bought a VP 1500 on driving it home the clutch judders and seem to come out with a bang on pulling away so new clutch required
with help from a friend a new clutch was fitted and all went well till we tried the clutch No clutch but every thing seemed ok the conclusion was that we had done something wrong.
Not a very difficult job we took it out again checking every thing was correct pressure the same as the old one same with the clutch plate no difference so we put it all back in guess what NO CLUTCH.
AT this point we were scratching our heads, and brain wave put a bar on the operating rod pull back guess what an operating clutch so what we did was to put a small steel washer into the slave piston to extend the movement of the rod I now have a clutch but it is very much down on the peddle
I was wondering if anybody has any comments or suggestions it seemed to us that the rod is to short
PS I have not tried the car on the road yet

Hi,firstly have you replace all clutch parts, friction plate and pressure plate? If yes try bleeding the system up with new fluid, you say you have put a washer in to extend the throw of the arm, and that the pedal is low to the floor, bleed up first and take it from there. ohh and forgot to say when you bleed up take the return spring off the slave while you do it.

HI
The friction plate was not replaced, the slave cylinder is working fully with the piston fully on the circlip

Clutch judder is from a contaminated FRICTION plate so why have you just changed the pressure plate? did the friction plate move away from the fly wheel?did you check that it is free to move? i had this on the Equipe, pressure plte was moving but after 15 years the friction plate was stuck solid to the fly wheel, what circlip? non of the 1500 or 1750's i have has a circlip in the slave cylinder! ive sent you a pm check your inbox.
