Now that the Equipe is back on the road. . A chance to save another rare model has come my way, so after a few emails and phone calls,we picked it up on thursday from deepest south and transported it back to Blackpool to give it a new lease of life and hopefully save another one .It is a 1978 1500 LE Special, been stored in a shed since May 1989 and is complete,so thats a good start, all trim is there which is even better and it is very good order really. A few pics of the LE Special.Looking very unloved, but if it turns out like the Equipe , Happy Days!!!!!!! . So the engine turns over on the key so tomorrow will start by seeing if it will run and then take it from there.

Hi Dave,
Well done for taking on the LE - it will be a treat when you've finished! Good luck, cheers Joe

I have to say, the Equipe looks much better with the quad headlamps! She's a beaut!!
My sister had a Tara green LE yonks ago, she wrapped it around something bigger and tougher so I had it off her for spares. I ended up using the engine in my Equipe. I know, a 1500cc Equipe. That was the start of it's demise. My dad finished it off Sad
Good luck with the LE Dave, you're starting to give me some enthusiasm!! Wink

Ha, yes, many moons ago. He just drove it into the ground. Poor thing Crying or Very sad
I look forward to seeing any photos, same as for other ongoing restos, Joe's, Andy's et al. Always useful. A detailed rear suspension set up from scratch would be good to see, to get the angles right, etc.
Yes, the time is right for me to get back into it now. I've just got to sort out a couple of other motors and then I will have to get my Mk3 back on the road. It really doesn't need much so I really hope to get it sorted in the next month or so.
Yes, looking forward to seeing your LE rise from the ashes Dave, good luck!

The response to this has been split from this thread. It can found in the "Suspension" forum as "Displacer Replacement and Adjustment"
