As we all know the good old tax disc will disappear later this year to be replaced, - well by nothing, just a big blank area in the corner of the windscreen, and that got me wondering.
Each year we all get a membership card which either get slipped in a wallet and forgotten about or slipped in a drawer and forgotten about, well what about making it a bit more practical? Could the card logo be redesigned and resized to look similar to either a current style tax disc or a 70s/ 80s design with the car registration, membership number and expiry date (the obvious exception being name and address)! With notable exceptions we generally only have 1 Allegro/VP on the road at any one time so it would simply be a case of getting your yearly membership card/disc, slipping it into your existing tax disc holder and suddenly your windscreen won't look so empty. |

A nice idea but when I was Membership Secretary we purchased a stock of membership cards, which were of excellent quality, but not cheap. I can imagine we still have quite a few left.
A while back we were looking at getting new tax disc holders, and wonder if these could be cut down and reversed to replace the tax disc. The regulations for MOT purposes might prevent any other stickers being put in the windscreen. (Can someone advise?)
Just a thought.

I guess we need one of our resident MoT testers to stop by and tell us, but I do believe that stickers fitted beyond the area of the windscreen swept by the wipers (and let's face it, there are some large unswept areas on Allegros!) are not restricted. |
