Hi All,
I have received a renewal today from a Lady living in London. She has a 1974 Allegro and has written on the renewal form against Notable Points About Your Car - 'I acquired the vehicle on 13.8.1977 and have used it constantly ever since, never let me down, the best car on this planet and I call it My Treasure'.
Well said that Lady!

well there you go! Its no doubt been said before but the allegro has good old simple engineering and provided its looked after ( ie serviced) they are very reliable.

They do however appreciate a little attention sometimes - fresh oil , new points/condensor/filters and greasing to the front suspension. Fluid changes in the brake and clutch systems help too! Oh and some anti-rust wax like waxoyl or bilthambers very good Dynax s50 applied to and inside sills/underside/front panel etc is pretty essential in my view too.

Allegros are now old cars and don't survive very well on neglect. They also don't survive well on a diet of neat unleaded-they need an additive , four star petrol or an unleaded conversion.

Every week i see dozens of cars at MOT which are not looked after and also don't appear to have been serviced either - hardly surprising they fail the test really. It amazes me too how many people who claim to "service" their car don't bother to take the wheels or drums off to check the brakes!

Rant over!

Agree 100%.

Failure to look after an Allegro = Unnecessary expenditure.

Failure to look after 'todays' cars = Large Bank Loan or Credit Card Bill or Breakers Yard!!!

Crying or Very sad We lost a member today, who had been with us since 1995.

The reply to the renewal form was, 'As ......... has been sold we shall not be renewing, but wish ACI members all the very best, we enjoyed our days with you. So glad my car has obviously gone to a good home'.

Laughing It is nice to know that the Club is appreciated and is a credit all those members that do so much to keep it so friendly. You may not know that we have more than one member, who no longer own an Allegro, and have informed me they stay with the Club because they like it and enjoy Quartic etc.
