Hi David,
It is quite possible to do: it all depends what your tolerance to 'hassle' is!
You will need:
A donor Allegro 1500 or 1750 (ideally)
OR:
(all from an Allegro 1500/1750)
Engine mountings and brackets
Engine tie rods and brackets
Exhaust system (If your engine is the twin carburettor version you will also need the Allegro-specific exhaust manifold: the Maxi manifold will foul the steering rack)
Gearchange assembly with rods and gearstick
Radiator (you might get away with the smaller 1100 radiator, but I would not recommend it and the hoses will be difficult to work around)
Water pump (or be prepared to modify the pipework/hoses to suit the Maxi pump)
Heater hoses and radiator hoses
Clutch master and slave cylinders (the existing ones may do the job, but not properly!)
Speedometer drive gears (inside the gearbox, but can be changed without separating engine from gearbox if you are careful) OR be prepared to use a 110mph Maxi speedometer mechanism with the Allegro face fitted
You will also need to divert and/or extend some of the engine wiring to suit the layout of the Maxi engine. Also the fuel pipe, which will need to reach the front of the engine.
Both the Allegro Club spares service and myself may be able to help you source most of these parts. _________________ But you'd better be quick. Because the Allegro Equipe is a Limited Edition that's going to move like its looks! Vroom, Vroom! |
