Have you taken yours out and looked at it? Our 1100's didn't work, so I took it out and checked. It's possible to remove the metal box covering the mechanism and clean it/bend the contacts back in to shape.
Works like a dream. PM me if you want more info. When refitting, the seal and locking ring are the same as MGB, so very cheap.

Hi John,

No not taken it out yet but I will done once fuel level gets down a bit, what model of MGB is it as there seems to be a few different types of locking ring and seal?
