I have just watched the first episode of the new David Walliams + Catherine Tate comedy drama. Stars Philip Glenister too (aka Gene Hunt).
Walliams' character has an Allegro! Strange car, with a 1971/72 K-reg (showplates, I would guess). Looks like a series 1 1300 Super on the outside, but has a few late series 2 fittings. Obviously a bit of a Heinz 57 car!
Well worth catching up with on the iPlayer (just breathe in and count to 10 when they tie a tow rope to the front bumper, because what comes next is easy to predict.... ) |

| I wondered what the story was with the K plates. It looks sporty with out the bumper. |

There was a review of this programme in the Daily Mail, Friday August 16th, one paragraph reads :
"Keith's (David Walliams) car looks like a prop from a historic comedy such a Terry and June or Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em - it's a 1970 Austin Maxi"
ER, no it isn't! School report 2/10, Must try harder!! |
