Right, with Tara in the fold I'm becoming interested in car cleaning tech for the first time in 20 years - coincidentally this is how long it's been since I worked as a car valeter...

What polishes & stuff do people recommend? The car currently feels very smooth, so I'll check with the former keeper as to what he used but I thought I would also ask you all. I need something that works on both metallic paint & chrome, or at least doesn't leave marks on the chrome if I don't keep between the lines Wink Ease of application would be good, as would something that doesn't require mechanical buffing for the best results - for now at least. Liquid "wax" wasn't as prevalent or trusted when I did this as a job, so it never featured in my bucket o' props.

If I do change polishes from that which the former keeper used, should I be wary of any brands conflicting chemically?

Further to the polishing question, what other prep do people tend to carry out before going to shows? I'm not thinking of going for Concours, but to ensure I can show her at her best is there anything other than general cleanliness I need to think about?
