just bought this off ebay...its for an MG, but looks very similar to an allegro sender. I`m going to to play to see if it will go in without any mods. Failing that, everythings at the right angle, just all looks about 10% bigger....if it don`t fit I`ll make it. It was only 12.50 plus a couple of quid p&p.. Might be a source for us lot eh? I`ll report back....

went in no probs. Where the filter plugs on the end you need to cut inch and ahalf off and plug filter back on. Then just bend the fload bar to match the lowest point on the filter.....

Its from a mgb 75-81. I used my digital ohm meter to take a reading on the float with it out of the tank, so it was at the bottom of its travel, then had a few goes at bending the float rod so when it was in the tank at the bottom of its travel the reading was the same. You have to put a kind of loose "s" in it....Not sure what the reading if out or not as still have no fuel in it, but its all smiths, so can`t see it being out much

From the pics, it looks like the MGB pick-up tube is a bit longer, would this cause the suction strainer to foul the inside of the fuel tank?

Because it's a MGB unit, I think it will be compatible with the Allegro, so should work no probs.

Let us know how you get on.

Yeah, it is a bit longer. But I pulled the strainer of and cut off an inch and a half off the tube and pushed the strainer back on. It still sits within the delv at the bottom of the tank..
