| I'm looking to fit speakers to my series 2 2 door without damaging the interior panels. I know that some mini enthusiasts fit panels under the rear seat with speakers mounted in them. Will these fit Allegro's? If not what are the alternatives |

I asked something similar, heres what Paul-V had to say:

If you don't intend keeping the car long term, try to avoid cutting holes in the door trims or rear shelf to mount speakers, as your interior colour is nigh on impossible to find replacements for.
Mounting speakers under the rear seat is quite popular with Mini owners, and we have done it on one of our Allegros with quite satisfying results. |
Hope that helps! |

Hi there-
I didn't want to do any permanent damage to my Allegro, so I used surface mount speakers on the rear shelf- these are the ones I got- they have brackets and only need two little screws. They're not the best but I can still hear the music with them even with the windows down on the highway, so they're good enough for me.

You can also not use the brackets and mount them with velcro strips on the bottom- perfect if your parcel shelf is nice and you don't want to drill through it! oh- and you can't drill from the top because of the window- you need to drill from inside the boot with someone holding the shelf in place!
cheers,
Brian |

Thanks Brian
I've seen similar speakers and was going to fit them to the shelf but I'll follow your lead.

Hi Louise
Thanks for the help.
Under the seat seems the way to go. I intend to keep the car but I am loather to damage a perfect interior as they are few and far between.
Regards

An alternative is to have one speaker fitted in the centre dash section, below the radio - there is a speaker grill there for it. Some cars had one speaker fitted there from the factory, but you obviously don't get stereo!
Or you could fit OEM speakers in the footwells from a series 3, they wouldn't be right for the year of your car but they wouldn't look out of place. Might be hard to find though. _________________ Hell has frozen over...... the car formally known as 'Heap' is back on the road! |

If you were to wire a stereo to the single dash speaker, what's the best way to ensure you don't get just a single channel? As I recall, not having one speaker connected could also damage the stereo, so I'm thinking 2 birds/1 stone if I get both feeds to somehow power a single speaker...
I currently have ginormous anti-period pods on the real shelf, it's like being pursued by aliens! I may look at shifting them under the back seat as well, but I'd like to have a bit more sound at the front too - and I have another car that's stereoless, and this'll help me plan for that as well. _________________ ...that's why Allegro will look as good 5 years from now as it does today. |

Not sure about the wiring, to be honest. I don't have a picture of my radio as all I have atm is a large hole in my dashboard! _________________ Hell has frozen over...... the car formally known as 'Heap' is back on the road! |

Hello.
I know this is an old post but if you are still wondering then I'll tell you about mine.
I have 4 speakers mounted on 2 custom shaped MDF boards surrounded by black fabric backing. They are fitted underneath the back seats and don't affect the car interior at all as they are not 'fitted', just snug. The look and sound pretty good! I would recommend this option.
Furthermore you can get very discreet digital ariels that fit on the dashboard!
I am now selling my Allegro and the speakers will be going surplus. If they interest you as a 'plug and play' solution then let me know! Photos available next week. |
