I'm finally stripping down the rest of my 1.5 HLS. As all the HLS parts were used on Adam my 1.3 L I wondered what other parts I should be saving before I scrap the shell. These are the parts I will be removing next week:

Engine and all ancillaries.
Hydrogas units and connecting pipes.
Heater.
Dashboard.
Petrol tank.
Front doors. (rears rotten)
Bonnet.
Boot lid.
Wiper motor and wheelbox.

I'd save the lamps - rear and sidelamp/indicators (if the latter are any good, could be difficult to remove if they've started to corrode).

Radiator and hoses will be useful too to somebody I'd think. Door/boot seals too, as these can get torn, and steering rack, and tie-bar mounting brackets. Brake discs if still good and thick, and brake callipers if no scoring of the bores. Exhaust if good.

The 1.5 bits might not be of any use to you (e.g. if they don't fit your Equipe) but could be passed on to somebody who needs them.

Not sure about keeping the heater as it's big and doesn't tend to fail - I'd just keep the top part with the motor and the matrix.

As a cheeky early request for bits, is the heater control plastic panel mint? If so I would love to buy that from you, and the little bulb holders that plug into it. Also the relay bracket for the HRW relay under the dash (but not the relay itself, but you might want to keep that as a spare). Please let me know!

Yes I took the lamps off, side/indicators are quite corroded but the fixing spacers came in handy.

Radiator frame fell apart it was so corroded but I've kept the hoses, offset switch and fittings and the fan from it.

Doors, boot and bonnet rear seal I have saved.

Steering rack was used on Adam and at the time I put Adams back on this car. might be worth saving to recondition.

Will check the discs. One caliper used on Equipe, will check the other one.

Will check exhaust.

Good point about the heater as I have three now, 2xS2, 1xS3.

I will check the condition of the heater control plastic panel and the bulb holders. Would I have to cut the wires for the bulb holders or do they join further up the loom?

I remember unclipping a relay under the dash on the drivers side. Would that be the HRW one? If it is I will get the bracket off.

I think the bulb holders plug into two connectors each, directly behind the control panel.

The relay almost certainly would have been the HRW one - the bracket is held in with a screw I think. Many thanks for your help and quick reply!

Fuel filler flap? There's minor variations in the shape over the life of the design, IIRC.

Parcel shelf, if it wasn't part of the HLS gear already swapped over. Bumpers if not used in the swap as well, and of course as much glass as possible, including mirrors.

I will save the fuel filler flap and locking fuel cap.

Parcel shelf went into Adam with the rest of the HLS interior.

Bumpers and end caps were saved though end cap fixing brackets had snapped on some if I remember.

All the glass was used in Adam as it is green tinted being an HLS.

Unfortunately the plastic panel isn't mint as some little clips have broken on the back of it and for some unknown reason, when I disconnected the wires from the bulb holders the connectors came away from the bulb holders as they had gone powdery. I have the relay bracket and screw, if you want it I will post it to you. I don't want anything for it. Just PM me your address. Sorry I haven't been of more help.

PS I haven't forgot the guy regarding the Equipe stripes, I just haven't had a chance to follow that up yet.

Many thanks Andy - my bulb holders have done the same thing, by I can't think why there would be a corrosion problem under the dashboard!

It's just plain electrolytic action; 2 different metals in contact will tend to corrode each other, add electricity to that and it accelerates.

I assume the that the types of metals will effect the speed of the electrolytic action? This problem appears to affect the illumination bulbholders much more than switches.
