To answer a rhetorical question from a sceptic (boooo hissss)
How many members are there in the club?
(the rhetorical answer was 2)
And wouldn't it be a nice to have a "member" counter on the website somewhere? (or is there one I haven't spotted?)
Cheers,
Graham |

Hi Graham,
We now have approximately 300 members. I believe membership peaked at about 900 many years ago, when many more Allegros were on the road.
However, I have investigated membership numbers in other clubs, and without mentioning names, our situation is not as bad as many others.
I think that our Club situation is better because:
1) The spirit within the club is strong due to the effort put in by so many to keep it so. A.C.I. has been recognised as 'The Club for the Allegro'. A sister car at one time had three clubs catering for owners! We also have members without Allegros, who stay with us because they like the club!
2) We are fortunate to have an excellent chairman, and dedicated Club Officials operating our Spares Service, producing an excellent club magazine. and where possible maintaining local groups.
3) A higher percentage of Allegros have survived than many other cars produced during the 1970's and early 1980's.
We have members in fourteen countries across the world.
