An excellent event and thoroughly enjoyable day!

I was great fun seeing all the BL driving along the A31 and lined up at the petrol station!

Many thanks for to Mervyn, Marianne and all those involved for organising such such a great day and to all those who achieved such amazing MPG figures!

I brought my camera but managed to forget the memory card, rendering it completely useless!

Incidentally, the chap at the filling station apologised profusely for the balls up at their end when I returned the third time.

A very enjoyable day (and rather educational!), thanks to all involved.

Just to echo all the other comments, well done to Merv et al for a great day out!

Definitely an excellent choice of venue, and the weather couldn't have been better.

Yes it looks like you all had a good day out! Hope that I can join in the fun next year if you're planning another economy run that is. Very impressive consumption figures which many modern cars cannot equal, well done all, cheers, Laurence.

Many thanks again to Mervyn and others, it was a lovely day and we had lovely weather too!

I was amazed at the difference between the figures for last year and this year, especially my sister's car as it improved from 33mpg to 49mpg! Despite not being fully run in on the rebuilt engine and having done less than 100 miles since the first run, although it did have one fewer passenger and I had re-torqued the head & adjusted valve clearances. Maybe having the windows closed and the fan off helped, but it did make it hot!

Hi All,

I have been very touched by the kind remarks from so many, and to you all, I am very grateful.

There was a very interesting letter to 'Honest John' (Motoring Correspondent who talks good sense) in the Daily Telegraph today. The writer says that he had been a Service Engineer covering filling stations for a number of oil companies, and part of the work was testing and recalibrating meters to be within Trading Standards tolerances. Some companies and operators were regularly calling in for the measure to be reduced which is allowed as long as it is within permitted tolerances. He finishes by saying that all pumps must meet certain criteria, but some are definitely more generous than others!

Honest John's comment was: "That explains a few variations when drivers try to calculate fuel economy. You can't trust anyone these days, but then you never could"!

I believe a well known Supermarket was in trouble over fuel delivery recently, but for other reasons, I don't use their fuel and keep to well known brands.

Merv.
