I'd just like to say firstly how much Jane and I enjoyed attending
Bromley on the 15th. We were made very welcome and made to feel
part of the club................
Now for the bad news.
I went get the car out of the garage this morning, it was reluctant to
start so i left it for a moment and started it again. This time there was a
massive spark, flames and billowing smoke from under the bonnet.
I got out of the car double quick as the smoke engulfed the garage.
Jane phoned the fire brigade, who were with us within under 10 minutes,
and contained the fire.....The car is pretty much written off though. There
is minor damage to the garage which stopped the fire spreading further
thankfully.
I'm still in a bit of shock as i write this.
Not the sort of Sunday we were anticipating really. We had only had
the car since the beginning of June.It was/is a one previous owner 1977
1100 deluxe series 2 now its a charred wreck.......
I just felt i had to share my dissapointment with someone, so who
better than fellow club members.
If nothing else it must qualify for shortist ownership of a club car. 22 days i make it.

Dear Paul,
I am sure I speak for everyone in the Club, and especially all those of us who attended Bromley, in expressing our condolences to you at the sad loss of your car.
We hope this won't put you off Allegros, and you and Jane will join us again.

Paul

I'm very sorry to hear about this unfortunate event. The car was really lovely and its a real shame.

I was really nice to meet you at the show to take pictures of your car and mine together (PGP 971P, the other white 1100 deluxe at the show). I hope you can find another nice Allegro and come to some other shows in the future

Tom

Paul,

We're so sorry for you. We can only imagine how you must be feeling, it was such a lovely original car. Echoing Mervyn's words, we hope this doesn't put you off Allegros and hope to see you at future events.

Sad Sorry to hear about your car, nasty thing to happen.

Glad to hear no-one was hurt and that apart from the car the damage wasn't too severe.

Hi Paul,

Really sorry to hear about that............why is it always the really nice cars that disasters happen to?

If you are able to find out what caused the fire, it would be really useful if you could let the rest of us know.............it might help stop the same thing happening to somebody else's car.

all the best

Hi Paul and Jane,
I have just read your post on here after Roger just told me the bad news,I am so sorry to hear about your Allegro,i just cant believe it!!
I am just glad you were both ok and not hurt in anyway and that you were not driving it at the time!!
It is such a shame because it was in lovely condition before the fire,
I have never heard of an Allegro do that, did you find out the cause of the fire?,was it electrical or petrol?
Do you think you might buy another Allegro to replace it?,i hope so as it was great to see new members at the show and with a lovely car
I hope to see you at the next South Thames club meet
take care and i hope you have recovered from the shock!
Richie
(the nutter in the stripey pimp suit with the big affro and the silver Allegro Equipe) Very Happy

Paul and jane,

So sorry to hear your news and appreciate what a shock and disappointment it must be for you.

Looking back ast the Bromley photos it doesn't seem possible! , take care and hope to see you again.

Should you need any assistance with insurance valuation or vetting another allegro in the future I'm sure all the help you may need will be available through the club. All the best ,

Andy and Linda

Me and Charlie (my Nautilus Blue Series 3) are so sorry to hear about the loss of your Aggro, just glad that neither of you were hurt, shame about the car tho, at least you have 22 days of memories of it.
