Hi Rachel,
If this is for SWP 377V then I think it is the cable specific to the automatic. I looked into this in the past but didn't make any progress. I'd suggest contacting a firm such as this:

Good luck Joe |

My apologies - this reply is probably far too late to be useful.
The speedo cable for the RHD manual VP is GSD104. This cable is also used on the LHD MG Midget and is available from several MG spares sites.

Thank you for your reply -there is someone out there!
The much loved Allegro in question is an auto.Eventually got a cable GSD117 from the MGB Hive
All appears to have been well this summer, but is it usual for the speedo, accurate I believe,to sound quite as clockwork as it does?
My husband can barely here it,but he has selective deafness and I have ears like a bat.
Regards,Rachel. _________________ RD |

A ticking sound from the speedometer could be either the mileometer mechanism or the right-angled drive that joins the speedo cable to the back of the speedo.
Does the speedo needle flicker (judder) at all? |
