Hi, I'm Rick, maybe some of you have seen my posts on the various Allegro Facebook pages I've owned this Allegro for 3 weeks now, purchased off pictures only and fetched her from Bridgewater in Somerset, She's had 6 owners and has 32,000 miles on the clock, she's in a sorry state although I'd saved her just in time from a young guy who was trying to quote "rally it up a bit" here's one of the pictures I purchased her from along with as she is now.....
currently stripping her down in my garage and charting my progress on my you tube channel (search for Austin Allegro Agatha on you tube)

Inside the paperwork folder is an old photograph from her glory days...
I've christened her Agatha Crusty the plan is to recommission and mild resto for this year then in future hopefully fully restore.
I won't put too much on here as I've promised to do an article for a future copy of the Quartic magazine.

Welcome Rick!
It is good to see another Sandglow series 2 being saved: I have got one myself. Rescued from downtown Bristol just over 20 years ago with a smoky engine and whining gearbox: that gave me the perfect excuse to install the running gear from an MG Metro (and back then, you could pick up a complete running MG Metro for around £100  )
Looking forward to reading your updates on here and in Quartic. |

an update?
sorry the forum isn't very active so i've been more on the facebook page and youtube, hopefully if the article was ok Jenny might do a feature in Quartic of the first few weeks work, but to summarise due to lockdown i could guarantee 8 hours a day 5 days a week on Agatha so got her in a decent state quite quickly, i decided even though she is mot exempt i'd get her in for mot on her 42nd birthday 5/5/20 and we got a clear pass. i'm currently tracing all previous owners (i'm the 7th) i've spoken to the last 4 personally and am back to 2003, sadly the trail has gone cold although she was registered in Cardiff in 1978 at Howells we think, owner 3 from Aberdere purchased her from a guy in Cardiff in 2003 and the guy he had her off was the 2nd owner, at the time Agatha was 25 years old and had only 28,000 miles on her, owner 3 was a trader and although he registered her in his name he sold her quite quickly to owner 4 from Hiruwan a few miles away who had her 15 years, he sold her to owner 5 in 2018 and she was taken to Cornwall he owned her 2 years, owner 6 was the guy in Somerset i got her off, he only had her a couple of months and luckily as he has classic minis she survived although he is the guy who did the spotlights/black bumper etc... so here we are she's now on the road and i'm slowly getting to use her as lockdown eases, i've also just purchased a 4 owner Maestro owner 1 and 2 being father and son who had her for 25 years.....

Hi Rick,
Good work with your Sandglow Allegro. Enjoy the Maestro - back in the day I got one of the first Maestros....a 1.6HL......in dark blue, followed by another in white - they were good! cheers Joe |

Hi Ricky, thanks for the update, the elderly luddite forum users, not like me, will appreciate it (tin helmet firmly strapped on!  )
Yes, getting photos on here is a bit of a challenge, I wonder if there is anything that could make it easier for us... them! |
