Hi fellow Austineers, New member here. About me, well I'm 62, been playing with old vehicles since I was 12, I've still got and use my first car purchased when I was 16 as my mum would not let me get a moped. I recently purchased a Mock Police Panda car. It had been used in a few TV programmes and was being sold off as no longer required. It bought back memories of my wife's White 1300 Allegro with brown ever flex roof. These Allegro's are good little cars. Mine had a few problems which I've been tinkering with, little things like corroded fuses in the fuse box, broken wires to the reverse light switch, flooding carburettor, leaking petrol tank from the sender gasket to name but a few. All was going well but it was hit by a BMW who was reversing at speed and clipped the car on the OSF wing tip, creasing the wing and smashing the light cluster. The bonnet won't now close and the grill is a bit squashed but should straighten out. I'm on the look out for spares, front part of the wing and light cluster to get this Panda back on the road. I also own the following vehicles, 1953 Morris Minor post office mail van, 1966 Morris Minor post office mail van, 1972 Morris Minor post office mail van, 1957 Morris JB van, 1960 Morris Minor 4door saloon, 1951 Wolseley 6/80 and a 1952 Wolseley 6/80 plus a 1998 Honda ST1100 Police Motorbike. I'm near Slough, so if anyone is passing by do drop in for a coffee. Regards Roly

Welcome, Roly!

You will find it very quiet on this forum nowadays, but there are a select few of us who still lurk around and try to help out where we can Smile

Your best contact for spares would be Graham: you can send him a private message via this forum, or use the details published in Quartic to contact him. If he hasn't got what you need, he will probably be able to point you in the right direction!
I hope the errant BMW driver is going to cough up the cost of repairs!

If you are free on Sunday 30th September, you would be most welcome at the BL Autumn Rally at Milton Keynes: there is always a good turnout of Allegros and their owners. If you can't bring your Allegro because of the damage, just bring yourself.

Thanks for the message, Yes the Asian driver has said he will pay cash as he is an honourable business man, not sure why he drove off after the impact but we will have to wait and see how we get on. Of the many body shops I contacted only one so far is interested in having a go at repairing the Allegro, all others seem to feel it too much like hard work. Real metal (plus rust) and no nice coloured plastic panels to hang back on. Ive contact the club spares man who has been most helpful, I was contacting him anyway as I was after a couple of small items which he had in stock. My shopping list is a bit bigger now but we have to see what the body shop has to say next weekend when the Allegro goes in. The club mag is good, I'm rather surprised there are not more members, I get nothing but interest and praise when I take my car out, even just down to the shops. A couple of local kids think its the "coolest" car they have ever seen. They really should have a cult following by now.
