I did the same journey to Bridgend again on Saturday evening, only this time I left out some of the heavier equipment that I usually carry around in the van, & I inflated the tyres to the higher value of the two options ie for full load.
The consumption was an amazing (for my old van ) 29.5 mpg ! Compared to the 23 mpg it used to return, I think that's brilliant. |

Sorry - off topic post warning!
Regarding the petrol hose clips, I fitted some stainless steel genuine Jubilee clips - just the ordinary worm type ones. I take it that I should replace these for the plain type with a nut and screw then, or will they be OK?
Also, it is worth using any sort of sealant on the joints?
I did have a hose fall off the petrol pump last year and can't seem to get it to tighten up so that the pipe cannot be pulled off by hand _________________ Hell has frozen over...... the car formally known as 'Heap' is back on the road! |

I use Jub clips on the tank to fuel-line, but the proper ones for the pump and carb connections. Do not use any form of sealant. The fuel pump has 2 different sized outlets - the one to the carb is very thin. As long as it is a snug fit rather than tight and it isn't leaking it will be absolutely fine. This pipe can often be pulled away easily - it's fine. _________________ Austin - you can DEPEND on it!
