You are all invited to take part in the the Midlands Group's 1st Annual Midsummer Mystery Treasure Hunt on Sunday June 22nd.

The assembly point is at the main car park of Kenilworth Castle, Warwickshire. 1st departures will be at 11.00am and every 3 - 4 minutes afterwards for a mystery location! Shocked
The route is about 30 miles, taking around 2 - 2.5 hours and will go via Kenilworth, through Leamington Spa and out into South Warwickshire. The route will then be through mainly small lanes and villages with several more clues to be solved enroute. Most will be visable from the car but for some you will have to get out and explore.
About 20 miles into the run is a tea and pee stop, where you will exchange your completed form for another one , with yet more clues and your ultimate destination on it.
Along with the clues will also be information about what you can see on the way, and if you have binoculars bring them as there are a couple of spectacular look out points along the way, weather permitting.
At the mystery location the answered clues will be converted to points, coupled with points for surprise items collected on the way and a winner will be declared, though exactly how, what we do with 2 or more with the same score and what they actually win has yet to be worked out Rolling Eyes

If you fancy joining in for a nice run in some glorious countryside then let me know, preferably by the beginning of June so I can get enough answer sheets prepared

Naturally we will be there (but you knew that already, Chris!) and Peter S has just told us that he will come along (but possibly in a Metro!)

Let's hope plenty more come along.

Hi Chris
Just to re-iterate Pauls post (and keep your thread at the top of the list!) I will be there although I probably need to find a team-mate. By the way, the threat of attending in a Metro is a last resort, if all Allegros and 1100s have failed me.

I'm still surprised at the lack of response from others Sad Let's hope it's just because June is so far away(!) and everyone will want to join in nearer the time Smile

So far I have had 5 entries for the Treasure Hunt, if anyone still wants to join in there are a couple of alterations, namely the starting point and the date!!
The original start point was the car park at Kenilworth Castle, however it's possible there may be a charge, and major sewer work has cut Kenilworth in half, so I am moving the start point to University of Warwick, Westwood Campus off Westwood Heath Road, (CV4 7AL for those with sat nav)
It is signposted off A45, follow signs to 2 roundabouts close together, look out for Renault dealer and supermarket complex on left, campus is on the right. Arrive after 10.30, start at 11.00am at 3 min intervals.
Now I have also had to change the date because I discovered the mystery finish point has an access chargeable event on June 22nd of £10!! Ever one to save you money I have changed the date to Sunday June 29th. Lets hope for better weather than last weekend!! Shocked

Just 12 days to the 1st Annual Treasure Hunt and I need to put a stop to the flood of entries, - - well not exactly a flood, more a restricted trickle really, - - OK lets not mince words, I have 5 teams, they are :
Paul and Teresa (2 in car)
Teresa's mum and dad (2)
Jenny and Craig (2)
Peter (1)
Linzi Harris +? ( 1/2/?)
Stephen (0) Sadly he has had a better offer and zipped off to Cornwall! Cool

If anyone else wants to take part you are more than welcome but I do need to know for certain by this Friday so I can get printing done and sort out some prizes, if you leave it any later I shall have to leave you out no matter how much you sob and scream! Sad
Also if any of those named are bringing more, less or nobody at all,( ie not coming) can they let me know too

Fingers crossed for nice weather, bring binoculars and a pen, and see you at Westwood Campus, Uni of Warwick, Westwood Heath Road, Coventry after 10.30am for 11.00 start

Chris,

If Quartic makes it on to the doormats in time, you might just get a last-minute rush!

Best regards

Paul

Hi Chris
Thanks for a really well organised and fun day Very Happy. Shame there weren't a few more teams, and I apologise for wimping out and joining Jenny & Craig, but I think I would have really struggled on my own! Looking forwards to nexts years event already, and I'm sure we can drum up a lot more interest.
Thanks again
Peter

As Peter said, thanks Chris for going to so much trouble organising this. It was great fun to actually use the cars (although lying about in the sun all day at shows is fun too!) and we all had a really good day Very Happy

I'll be laughing about Craig's racing start from the National Herb Centre for years to come Rolling Eyes Very Happy
