There is another petition on the Downing Street website asking for the return of the 25-year exemption for road tax. In other words, all of our Allegros (except my A-reg one!!) would get free tax if this went through.

Please sign it, and pass the details on to anybody who shows an interest!

Please also sign another petition that is trying to stand up for the rights of all classic car users:

Several EU proposals across the years are dangerous to the classic car movement. One that has been under consideration is to ban the use of cars older than 10 years. Similarly, Edinburgh City Council is considering the banning of cars over 15 years old from the town centre. These, and similar, proposals directly threaten the classic car movement, and encourage the manufacture of new cars, with the attendent environmental issues of sourcing raw materials, manufacturing, distriuting and scrapping the spiralling supply of new vehicles

Shocked

WHAT!?

Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Im sorry, but who the hell thinks up all this rubbish??!!!

There’s to reason to this at all!!!... one minute they want us to save resources, the next is to waste them an STUPID rates!

So people who look after a car for years and have bought it out right are expected to have there car disposed of and replaced when maybe they can’t afford it???

And what about depreciation value of new cars? Who’s going to buy an 8 year old car when it’s only got a few years of life lift? So ever reasonably new cars would be worth nothing! Why would anyone spend £30,000+ on a new jag, knowing in 3 years time it will be worth about £2,000!?

They can’t bring this in, I can’t see that how they will punish people for owning a classic car?! Imagine the outcry,

I just can’t believe this…….

I’m so angry

…..i know it wont ever happen but in the unlikely event it does… anyone fancy a road trip to Edinburgh city centre?.. if were not aloud in I say we park the cars on all major routes into the city?
Wink

In answer to your question Steve, ...'who the hell thinks up all this rubbish' the answer is our 'masters' in the EU.
Remember that about 80% of new laws come from these idiots who are worse, and even more dangerous, than the fools in Westminster.
It appears that all three major political parties will keep us in with these overpaid bureaucrats in Brussels, and that is why I (like thousands of others) have joined and will vote for the UK Independence Party (UKIP) who want us out of this charade.
Remember also, that Britain usually sticks to the EU rules when some of the other member states ignore them.
Merv.

Totally agree with everything mervyn has just said - I'm also a UKIP voter - the only political party that makes any sense as far as I'm concerned.
