Hello,
Not on my Allegro but a friend's Corsa;
The Alternator is so stiff to turn that the fan belt keeps snapping.
Can the Alternator be repaired or is best to get a second hand one?
Thanks Dave |

It's probably best to buy a reconditioned alternator although saying that, the alternator you return should be useable for the reconditioners to be able to repair it, so they may not accept it.
If they won't accept it, buy a secondhand alternator, keep the receipt. You can normally return it to the car breakers within 10days if it doesn't work properly.
A reconditioned alternator could cost about £70, a secondhand alternator could cost about £20, the choice is yours. |

Our local Unipart depot could do a new one for £75 + vat, so I went for it after having no luck at the scrap yard.
Thanks again Dave |
